Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Ratifies Agreement
On February 24, 2009, HNA announced an overwhelming ratification of the agreement by HNA members of Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific.
HNA represents approximately sixty members at the facility. Highlights and details of the contract will be posted on the HNA web site on the facility page as soon as the finalized information becomes available.

Executive Director Selects Training Seminar for HNA Board and Representatives
Executive Director Patt A. Gibbs selected PSI Seminar for HNA Board of Directors and other HNA Union Representative training. Ten HNA officials will attend the first training seminar in March of 2009. Other representatives will be scheduled for one of two future seminars in 2009.

"Now more than ever, it is imperative that the Board have training that will facilitate the successful operations of HNA as a union in 2009," said Executive Director Patt A. Gibbs, Esq. in a memorandum to the Board of Directors.

Message to KP Nurses from Coalition of KP Unions Executive Director
In a message from John August, ED for Coalition of Kaiser Permanente (KP) Unions issued on February 20, 2009, he commented on the recent financial losses announced by KP for 2008. August said that even though frontline union members contributed admirably to the year’s operations, it was not sufficient to offset larger financial difficulties.

Collective Bargaining Update:
Negotiating sessions for Wahiawa General Hospital were held on February 26 and 27. The next scheduled date is March 16, 2009 at a location to be announced. Please check the Wahiawa General Hospital facility page on the HNA web site for updates.

Upcoming Events:
March 9-10, 2009: The United American Nurses (UAN) annual National Labor Assembly (NLA) takes place in Washington, DC. Elected HNA delegates are: HNA President Luanne Long, RN, HNA Secretary Robin Tanner, RN, Board member Marina Robinson, RN, Board member Ken Obayashi, RN and HNA member Ravada Benjamin, RN. One of the points of discussion concerns the recent announcement of a 150,000 RN Association, the United American Nurses-National Nurses Organizing Committee, (UAN-NNOC), AFL-CIO.
