HNA Union Leaders Sworn in for 2010

Kuma Hula Lehua Avilla-Livsey offering a special blessing during swearing-in ceremonyHNA Union leaders and representatives including Officers, Executive Director, those elected to the HNA Board of Directors and House of Delegates assembled for the first official HNA board meeting on January 9, 2010. The swearing-in ceremony and blessing, held at the official hotel for HNA, the Hilton Hawaiian Village, was conducted in keeping with ancient Hawaiian tradition.

"Today is special," began Executive Director Patt A.Gibbs, Esq. "You stand as a representative of our members and in honoring Hawaiian culture, the swearing-in ceremony will be conducted by one of our own with a special blessing chanted in the Hawaiian language for our new leaders." HNA official members of the Board of Directors are comprised of HNA officers and facility and district directors. Their two-year terms of office commenced January 1, 2010 and expire on December 31, 2011.

Craft, RN, and new officers were officially sworn in to office and the new president presented a plaque of appreciation to outgoing President Luanne Long, RN. "Luanne led us through many difficult times and we want to honor her for all she has done for HNA," said President Craft, RN. "It was a tumultuous four years and I could not have done it without all of you," said Long, RN. "I thank everyone for their continued dedication."

Patt GibbsPatt A. Gibbs, Esq., accepted a new two-year extension to her contract at the last quarterly Board of Directors meeting held October 17, 2009 to be effective December 1, 2009. "We were extremely fortunate to have found Patt and are honored to have her as HNA's Executive Director," said President Craft, RN.

The Board conducted other standard union business and approved the 2010 budget. The Special House of Delegates meeting will take place January 16, 2010 and the annual House of Delegate meeting has been rescheduled by action of the Board of Directors to May 15 and 16, 2010.  A Special Board of Directors meeting will follow the Special House of Delegates meeting on January 16, 2010.  The next quarterly Board of Directors meeting will be April 10, 2010.

The first meeting of the Executive Committee will be held on February 12, 2010 (time to be announced.) The first meeting of the Collective Bargaining Committee will be held on February 12, 2010 (time to be announced.)  The first meeting of the Finance Committee will be held on February 12, 2010 (time to be announced.)
