Globally, HNA is standardizing language and strengthening our contracts. Negotiating teams have received training, in addition to the regular steward training that all members may receive.
SF Hospice/home care is also negotiating their first independent contract. Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific contract continues their negotiations for the LPN's. North Hawaii Community Hospital has begun negotiations on their first contract after organizing their facility rapidly. Hilo VA Nursing Home/Avalon organized in perhaps the most rapid unit election in HNA’s history and have already begun negotiations. Molokai General is nearing the completion of their negotiations for their first contract. Queens Radiation Therapist and IV team first contract negotiations continue slowly with a recalcitrant employer. In some of the facilities, union leaders are being targeted. Several of these grievances have been dropped by the employer or won in the initial stages. Some are still ongoing. Our excellent LRS’s continue to fight to protect our contracts. Queens unfair punitive attendance policy has been stopped and will be a topic at the negotiating table, perhaps a few tables. HMC-East and West are in the throws of financial discord as the employers have declared bankruptcy and are beginning the third round of lay-offs. HNA will negotiate the effects of those lay-offs to protect our members during these troubling times. |
