Why Organize?

Organizing empowers workers to transform their workplace from one in which they have no meaningful input, to one in which their professional views have a real influence on building a healthy workplace as well as delivering the highest quality of care for our community.

Organizing is not a suggestion box disguised as a round file. It is a vehicle for giving workers a binding workplace voice and the power to make positive change.

How to Organize?

Organizing begins with one person raising a question regarding workplace conditions, a discreet conversation with a trusted co-worker or a group of nurses who talk about workplace challenges and determines that it could be different. A call or email to an HNA union organizer is a great way to start that process.

Coming together as nurses (or any other profession) builds unity, job protection, and a means to develop a process to resolve ongoing workplace issues.   Your ultimate goal is to gain a HNA contract that spells out certain wages and working conditions that are mutually agreed upon between you and your employer.  Both employees and employer alike will understand just what rights and obligatons each has at the workplace.  A HNA union contract protects you and your family.
